In 1971, Victor Koh opened a small lab and got to work. He saw what others missed: Pandan, Durian, Coconut, Kaya. These flavours deserved the same precision that European houses brought to vanilla and citrus. Nobody was doing it. So he did.
He built a team of flavourists who shared his obsession with authenticity. Every formulation was tested against the real thing: the freshly pressed pandan leaf, the ripe durian, the hand-roasted coconut. Not against a competitor’s version. Against nature. That principle still guides everything we make.

What started as one man’s obsession is now a company trusted by brands in more than ten countries. Over 5,000 formulations and counting. Every single one still measured by the same test: does it taste like the real thing?

1971
Founded in Singapore
Victor Koh starts VKA in a small Singapore lab. His bet: Southeast Asia deserves a flavour house that truly understands its own food.
1985
Expanded to Malaysia
VKA opens a manufacturing facility in Malaysia, putting production closer to one of the region’s biggest F&B markets.
1995
First APAC Export Partnerships
Partnerships with distributors in Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines take VKA from a local operation to a regional player.
2002
Dedicated R&D Centre
A purpose-built research complex opens with GC-MS analytical labs, a sensory evaluation suite, and a pilot-scale processing facility. Our flavourists finally have a proper home.
FSSC 22000 Certification
VKA earns FSSC 22000 certification, the global benchmark for food safety. Every stage of production held to the same strict standard.
2018
